Golf Clubs - Care & Maintenance
03/27/2009
Your Golf Equipment tells a lot about you and your game. Unclean or damaged Equipment may be perceived to be owned by an irresponsible or even bad Golfer. Not only that, your game will suffer if you do not take care of your equipment.
In this section we will give you some Tips on Golf Club Maintenance & Golf Club Care:
- After your game, you will most likely find the Grooves on your Clubheads filled with dirt or mud. This dirt will cause your Golf Clubs to lose distance and control of your shots since the grooves on your club determines the spin of your ball. While in the course, wipe the clubhead with a towel to remove the mud then use a pointed object to clean in between the grooves. Just avoid using metal since this may cause your clubheads to lose their coating and rust.
- After your game of golf, wash the clubs with a wet cloth and dry them with a clean towel. Spread them and let them dry before putting them back in your Golf Bag. It may seem cumbersome to do this after every game but it will defenitely maximize your club's lifespan.
- When you're at home, damp a cloth with slightly soapy water and chamois then rub the grips of your clubs. Fill a pail or your bathtub with warm water. You may also add shampoo or soap , then soak your clubs into it. Use an old toothbrush to scrub the grooves.
- You may also want to buy a Golf Club Cleaning Kit. Such Kits are typically composed of plastic tools that remove the dirt from the club grooves.
- Check your Golf Club's Grips. If the lines or dimples on it are beginning to fade, it means it is time to replace them.
- You will probably leave it to a professional to replace your grips. It would be a shame if you replace them yourself and then find your grips to be too loose. Special Golf Club Regripping packages have detailed manuals that will make it easier for you to do it yourself.
You need to pay extra attention in taking care of your Golf Clubs since it is not only your biggest investment but they are your most essential pieces of Golf Gear.
