What Tiger Woods has done is splendid, but he has a bitter past like everyone does. Let’s see what his childhood looked like.
Tiger was born in Cypress, California to Earl and Kultida Woods. He is the only child of their marriage but has two half-brothers, Earl Jr. and Kevin, and one half-sister, Royce from the 18-year marriage of Earl Woods and his first wife, Barbara Woods Gray.
Earl, Tiger’s father, a retired United States Army lieutenant colonel and Vietnam War veteran, was of mixed African American (50%), Chinese (25%) and Native American (25%) ancestry. Kultida, his mother, originally from Thailand, is of mixed Thai (50%), Chinese (25%), and Dutch (25%) ancestry.
This makes Woods himself one-quarter Chinese, one-quarter Thai, one-quarter African American, one-eighth Native American, and one-eighth Dutch.
Since his mother is Thai, when Woods came to Thailand for a tournament in 2000, the Thai officials tried to bestow on him royal decorations, and even offered him Thai citizenship. Woods politely turned them down. Woods has a niece named Cheyenne Woods who is a promising amateur golfer at Wake Forest University.
Let’s wait and see.
